BELLA’S
UMBRELLA
Bella Bear had a new umbrella.
“Just see my new
umbrella!” Bella kept saying. “I can
hardly wait for a rainy day, so that I can used it!”
She looked up at the sky, watching out for
any sign of rain, just one, little black cloud!
But the sky was a clear blue, without
a cloud to be seen. She waited
for the first shower of raindrops. But
the sun shone high in the sky.
But Bella wanted to show off her new
umbrella!
“I will go to
the park!” she said at last. “The ducks
will be splashing about in the pond. I
can pretend to get wet and put up my umbrella!”
It seem hotter than ever in the park! Even
the ducks were hiding among the water weeds.
“No sign of
rain!” said Bella with a sigh. “And I
did want to put up my pretty new umbrella!”
She walked on, getting hotter and
hotter. Then – splash! Water splashed on her head. Then again. Splash! Was it raining?
Bella put up her pretty new umbrella. Then she looked around. It was a splash from the water fountain! She felt very silly.
“Bella!” cried
Pretty Bear. “What a pretty
parasol! A parasol to shade you from the
sun!”
“A – a parasol?”
said Bella. She looked up at her
umbrella.
“Yes!” said
Pretty. “I must get one!”
“So, when it is
fine, my umbrella is a parasol,” said Bella.
“And when it rains, my parasol is an umbrella!”
